Hello, forecast was good for the first part of the day, so we decided to head up to a new permission to do a bit of work and try out some christmas toys, a lovely few hours did some archery (boys had bows for crimbo) a bit of dead wood clearing, set up a tarp for the weekend, had a good old wander around the wood, found a huge burr in the stream, which has been removed to dry a bit, rather excited about that!

Then an old school mate turned up with his son, and we all had a play on a couple of old 22 rim fires which was an added bonus.anyway you get the idea by now, so have a look at the piccys.

Another brilliant day.

Thanks for looking.

Ivan...

looks a great day out mate, i wonder how the burr ended up in the stream ?

Hi Rob, yeah took me a while, with the recent heavy rain, but it appears that a mature tree had fallen up stream sometime ago, the burr had become dislodged and been rushed in the spate for about 50 yards, it is a real solid beauty, i can just about lift it on my own, so i am going to need some help to extracate it from the wood, home, unfortunately Alison has seen it and has "dibs" it teenage term i believe.

But the largest most solid one i have ever come across. wood turners dream.

It was only held on but about an inch of supply, if you get my drift.

Nice burr! Looks like everyone is having fun. Woods look nice as well.

Hi Al, yes the very man, you would love that burr, if you are a good boy you may get the privalege of helping carry it out of the wood with me, oh yeah and turning it into something special.

In exchange for a great weekends camp, with special quisine on me sir.oh and a couple of ciders, oh and anything else you require.

Looks great there Ivan, love the fire pit. It's days like this, that your lads will always remember. Nice post.

Thanks Ammo, the initial fire pit, was nature made by a big old silver brch uprooting, perfect fire reflector, but i had taken a firebowl with me to position where ever i liked, and decided under the rhodedendron was best placed for the tarp, ready for a night out, the boys wanted it to be today, but the forecast was awful.

Anyway i forgot to reply to a post of yours somewhere? Regarding coming down and spending a few days wander and sightseeing, maybe a bit of skill sharing and camp, anytime that suits you pal is good with me.

Regards.

I would gladly except your offer, kind Sir, as I have lots of new bushy toys to try out :)
Could you possibly be the man with the most permissions on BCUK :D
Maybe a wheelbarrow is needed for that burr. Hopefully it will lose some weight now it is free from it's bath.

Great pictures, I'm jealous! (Hard to find anywhere round here that will let you light fires etc. never mind use a .22rf!)

All the best for 2014.
