I was really confused that one of the trees that had come up out of the ones I'd planted looked very much like a birch, when I hadn't ordered (and thus knowingly planted) any. It was doing pretty well and I left it (the reason I didn't order any was because I have hundreds naturally seeded) but when I went to inspect it yesterday I found this:
Turns out I had planted an alder but the cheeky birch grew up beside it. Be interesting to see how big they get together or whether they both make it or not
