Look what landed in my IN tray this morning

While having a morning cup of tea and checking the BCUK site this morning, I had a sudden air mail delivery.


This little fellow came in and, after doing a couple of circuits of the room, landed in the tray (actually the “Let’s Forget about this Stuff tray) . Luckily my camera was next to me.

I can’t identify him, apart from it being a kingfisher, as I am not a birder and he does not look like the Bornean kingfishers in my bird book.

Here are some other shots to help identify him. He is slightly smaller than the size of a dove.About 15cm. Bill is about 6cm

Any guesses?

It looks like it could be a White-Throated Kingfisher.

Well done guys.

Almost every body seems to know what sort of kingfisher it is except me.

Time I became a birder I think.

A good start to the day. I've decided to go bush tomorrow to exercise my wobbly legs.

Can't rely always on nature coming to me!
