Interesting is also this one...........
"In the city of York, it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow."
along with a few other silly laws from days gone by.

As I understood it the bow got swept up in a raft of gun control laws & the MP who was going to object & get it removed before the legislation was passed slept in. This was my archery club captain who told me that every time I was tempted to shoot the bloddy pheasant that used to taunt me at the shooting field,
