FS Wilkinson Maple Woodlore used

FOR SALE I have a Wilkinson sword Ray Mears Woodlore knife with a maple handle, this knife has been used and sharpened , It has scratches on the blade but the sheath has never been out. I want what I paid for it 4 years ago which was £270, this will include RMSD and PP fees. I would trade for a one piece chris reeve knife.

It's a rare discontinued knife which is highly sought after and a collectible. Those reasons amongst others keep the prices high even used versions. Same thing with books, a Casino Royale first edition is an old worn book, but expect to pay thousands for it even though you can get a new paperback version for £5.99.

To answer your original question, the asking price was a good one for this knife. They don't sell for much below this, and usually far higher.

It's a prestige thing Kai, you could say the same about just about anything in life. Why buy a £300,000 Ferrari when a £450 Ford Fiesta will do the same job.

The fact it has Rays name on it makes it desirable to collectors.

Yes its sold. I just wanted back what I paid for it, I used it on and off for a year but now I make my own theres not much point keeping it and I have a far superior Alan Wood model to look at!

TBH I have no idea, it's not the selling price, but rather what the buyer is willing to pay.... and if that isn't skirting around the answer then I don't know what is

Just tallied them all up, a conservative estimate would be at least £5K

True, the older Woody you have could fetch more as people become aware of the differences and the older ones become rarer in good condition. The JP versions could fetch a tidy sum at auction. Depends on what buyers are present. To put it in perspective, I'v had loads of offers on my antler Woody, normally around the £600 to £800 mark, with a couple just over £1k. Four weeks ago I had a serious offer of £2500 for it. Now that is nuts to me.
