    Primary edged tool

I usually carry a thick spined puukko. I used to own a fiskars x5. It was brilliant little razor but very soon I traded it to something, cant remember what it was. If I take axe with me, I carry it on a chest belt under my long jacket. This way I dont need to take a pack with me and wont make...

Are skandigrind knives weak/ good for wood working?

Or to mess things up, you can have one large knife with sharp tip and two different edge angles. :cool:Scramasax or seax... If you aim for two knife set up, do yourself a favour and make sure your large knife really is a large. Imho anything shorter than 20cm is just too small. Talking about...

Are skandigrind knives weak/ good for wood working?

Some people consider making feathersticks "finer work" whereas finer work for others is making net needles and fishing equipment. Therefore some may say: "My seax is just as capable of doing finer tasks as my mora". For him it is reasonable but for those who do more than just sharpen tentsticks...

Are skandigrind knives weak/ good for wood working?

Totally agree! If you can make net needle with a large knife you surely can make it with smaller one. In my opinion this skandi knife "hype" is very commercial. Of Course nordic knives are popular cuz they usually have shallow grind(and this is attributed to any nordic grinded knife) and ease of...

Are skandigrind knives weak/ good for wood working?

I have noticed the same thing. Maybe he has chanced it afterwards. At least in his sharpening demo he seem to have that about 30 degrees. In some other videos it seems to be higher.

Are skandigrind knives weak/ good for wood working?

The answer is: It all depends on the edge angle. Many woodlore type knives have very steep edge angle, sometimes up to 30 degrees. They are for sure not fragile. On the other hand an edge of a flat ground blade with secondary edge can be very weak. Also, the edge angle defines how well the blade...

Whats the best grind for your ideal bushcraft knife?

For me, it's all about the edge angle. 16 to 25 are the limits. Skandi/nordic grind or full flat.
