    Looking for large belt buckles

I hadn't thought of that but that's a great idea! Cheers, mate, I'll look into it!

    Looking for large belt buckles

Yeah, mate, but I can't see anything suitable. Abbey don't have any beyond 2" and the ones Le Prevo have don't look to be heavy duty, unfortunately. One of the things I'm making will be a weightlifting belt so the strength is really important.

    Looking for large belt buckles

Hey guys, I'm in the process of making a few items with leather but I'm struggling to find any big belt buckles that will fit 3 or 4" strips of leather. I've had a look at a few different sites I've used in the past but I can't seem to find anything suitable. Does anyone know where I might be...

Leather Crafters, can I have your opinions please? Am I being too picky?

I've only made a few items from leather so something like that bag is definitely better than what I could achieve but in saying that, I wouldn't consider selling something that isn't perfect either. A seller should always put themselves in the customers shoes and ask themselves a hypothetical...

    1000D Cordura or 18oz Canvas???

Cordura is probably the 'better' material but personally, I prefer canvas because it's traditional and that's my cup of tea! They're both perfectly fine materials to use and neither will let you down as long as you look after them properly, so for me, the aesthetics take precedence. I've been...

Recommendation for a double bit axe handle?

Hey guys, I bought a vintage axe a week or so ago and I'm in the process of restoring it to it's former beauty at the moment. Unfortunately though, I can't see to find a suitable handle for it! Initially, I thought a Gransfors Bruks double bit handle would do but the thickness of the axe at the...

    Early Leatherwork Giveaway.....

I always really admire the beautiful work you produce but this is my favourite thread of yours, because it reminds me not give up! I've only done a few pieces myself and I've not been too happy with them but it's inspiring to see how such a great craftsman has improved by being persistent. It's...

    Stitching on DD tree huggers

Hey guys, I know a lot of forum users are familiar with DD hammocks and I wondered if anyone else has had problems with the stitching on their tree huggers? Earlier tonight, I set my hammock up in the garden, got in and after about 20 seconds, there was a snap and I landed with a thud! This...

    Gransfors Bruks cruiser axe

Hey, Does anyone on here have any experience of using one of these axes? They aren't made any more but I've seen a couple of them available on the American eBay site in the past week and would love to get one and, if necessary, refurbish it myself. Does anyone know when stopped being made? And...

    Recommendations for a blanket?

Thanks, guys! I think I'll probably keep an eye out for a Whitney one, though if I don't get much luck, I'll give the Yugoslavian one a try :)

    Recommendations for a blanket?

Hi guys, After having used a sleeping bag for years, I wouldn't mind trying a more traditional, versatile approach by going with a blanket but I'm not sure what I should be looking for. I know the Swiss and Italian surplus ones seem to be highly rated but I can't find one from Britain and even...

    DIY wax for clothing?

I made some wax for waterproofing yesterday, following the 90% paraffin/10% beeswax method and it worked out really well for an old bag I've got, but I have a waxed cotton jacket that I'd like to reproof and I'm worried about that wax being a bit too stiff for it. I checked out a few clothing...

    Taking kit abroad

The only time I've been asked about a weapon was when I flew to America. I just told the lady it was in my luggage and that was the end of it. I expected it to be a problem when she asked but it seems they only care about what's in your hand luggage.

    Firesteel issues

I don't think Mora Clippers have a 90 degree edge, do they? If I'm right, flatten the back off the knife out with a file and then it should produce sparks perfectly well.
