I haven't seen one of those in years 
They got hot iirc..... I mean the base got hot. The stand up lugs that supported the pot heated up and transfered heat (they're hinged onto the rim of the ring with the flames inside) unlike the trangia and popcan stoves which aren't attached to the supports.
Very neat though I'm sure the fellow I saw using one had a piece of the asbestos out of an ironing board (like that would happen nowadays ) that he had cut to size and used it underneath like a wee mug sized table mat. He had a tin mug and he brewed up in that using the stove that he just took out of his jacket pocket. By the time he'd had his tea the stove was cold and he just put it away back in his pocket.
