Hi guys
im sure some of you have built one like This i popped in to a local sheet metal fabricators today to try and source some metal for this and the very nice bloke cut me a piece of stainless steel 1mm thick 300mm by 600mm ish and then wouldnt take any money for this :You_Rock_
However its hard very hard the dremmel wont touch it and a hacksaw just scratched the surface, what sort of metal did you use? and was it hard going? fingers crossed when finished it should be great if possiby moving away from the lightweight stove i was looking for :lmao:
cheers

Hey there Lou,
We had a discussion about these afew weeks ago. I made this one...

...in work using stainless steel. It was hard work, especially with hand tools. Save the Dremmel for other uses, you're likely to burn it out on hard stainless. What I'd reccommend is drawing the shapes onto the sheet and cutting as close as you can on a band saw, to minimise any filing later. You don't have to keep to slotted ventilation holes, you can make them round if its easier. The slots for assembly are quite difficult - drill a line of 3.5(ish)mm holes, connect them by either wiggling the drill or use an abrafile blade - then to get them longer, put two hacksaw blades into a frame and use that, it saves on heartache trying to open up the width of the slot.
The whole thing comes up supprisingly small, but if you keep it fed on small kindling, makes a good brew in no time ;)

I had no idea how much effort this would require but still did it anyway. its a bit rough around the edges (not sharp just tatty) but it should work ok.
