Wild-Camping in Lammermuirs

Does anyone have any wild-camping recommendations for the Lammermuirs? In particular, around Longformacus and around the northern edge of the Lammermuir Hill range. This is for a DoE group of 15, so safety is my first consideration.

You could pick up the Herring Road near the Whiteadder Reservoir and head into the hills in the Lauder direction. There's plenty of open space up there and a few burns for water - http://northernpies.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/the-herring-road-way-of-silver-darlings.html

I'm an Assessor and the area has lots of rough/muddy tracks.
