Having looked at the stovepipe port on the Kifaru synylon tipis/tarps, I am toying with the idea of adding one to my polycotton tunnel tent.

I've not entirely convinced myself that its a good idea yet, but does anyone know where I could get suitable heat resistent material that would be flexible like the fibreglass cloth used by Kifaru and still retain the strength of tent, be suitable for sewing etc.

Many thanks,

Graham

Welders blankets? I don't know how to translate it properly, but that's the direct translation of a product we used in a halfkåta for that purpose. It's a blanket that welders use to protect areas that are sensitive to heat, sparks and molten metal.

Ahh, now that you mention it I'm sure this has cropped up before, but not for this purpose. I seem to remember there was a low cost and high cost option. I will have search.

Thanks,

Graham

Search for "stove jack" on ebay.com. I bought one a couple of years back. Didn't cost much and was cheap to post from the US as it was light weight.

It was basically a square of silicon covered glass fibre cloth around 50cm in length.

(I also considered welders blankets BTW)

Cheers

Forgot to mention that you could also use a flexible silicon flue flashing. I've put one on my Arctic ridge tent although it did already have a vent which meant I didn't have to cut the fabric.

Thanks,

Typically, my search has only yielded metal stove jacks :-(

TiGoat sell them at $40, but I has assumed I could get something cheaper than this.

I will try a more thorough search of ebay.com.
