The leaves look a bit strange for medlars to me; but thats what I thought the fruit was
so I don't know really
Yet another helpful post from me I guess

Fruits look too small to be medlar, and those leaves don't look right. Medlar has slim oval-shaped leaves, and glossy looking. That almost looks like a form of hawthorn.

I'm a bit baffled.

Based on leaf shape my books keep bringing me back to Thorns. Best match I have so far is Crataegus laciniata, a sort of Asiatic hawthorn. My book says fruits are red, sometimes flushed with yellow, and that the leaves are grey and hairy beneath, green above.

It's a Hawthorn.

The leaves are edible, and apparently quite tasty in april-may. Nice in potato salad or to use to make a mint based sauce for lamb. The fruit can be made into a pudding or jelly.
