I'm quite impressed by this response to the London bombings:

It is not political, it is not jingoistic, it is not aggressive, and it comes from people rather than government. Terrorists hope their actions will cause terror; instead they have just provoked a surge of defiance and resilience.

That's bloody marvellous. When you compare the reaction of most Britons to the kind of stuff we saw after the WTC, it brings a tear to the eye *sniff* *sniff*

Even the Sun was clever enough to say that hostility between muslims and christians is exactly what bin Laden wants, and I haven't heard anyone baying for blood or wringing their hands saying "if only we'd had ID cards!". Very impressive reaction - I honestly think that the people who planned this attack will be feeling very stupid right now. I can just picture them dancing 'round celebrating the explosions, then slowly getting more and more depressed as the days go by and everyone just says "**** you, we're not letting it get to us".

If hitler could flatten half of London without breaking us, I don't see what chance these chaps have!
