I went into my local DFS and asked if they had any of the old leather samples books going spare, and walked out with about 5kg of foot square pieces of leather!!
They just chuck out last years samples. I just explained that they are useful for making small pouches and coin purses etc, and they just handed them over. (you get some rubbish colours, but also a lot of nice browns and tans.
If you have no joy, PM me, and I am sure we can come to a trade of some sort.

Try your local charity shop for leather jackets...ask if they have anything too wrecked to sell as a going concern and you may get something for pennies.
