Wanted Fibre Pile

I've tried the major fabric retailors out there and have drawn a blank. (I can get it in a wine colour but I'd prefer a natural colour if pos)

I'm looking for fibre pile fabric in a natural colour (or black) for a wee project I have on the go and was wondering if anyone either has some they could sell or point me in the right direction.

Cheers

When I bought some windproof fabric off ebay last year I can remember the seller had fibre pile aswell as I thought about some interesting projects at the time.
I`ve done a quick search on there but can`t find anything, I`ll try and dig out the invoice tonight if I`ve still got it and pass on their details.

Thanks for the info.

I'm looking for enough to completely cover the underside of a dutch army poncho...As for weight, well I never really thought you could get it in weights. I'd consider any really. May be it's best to explain what I need it for;

I want to make a poncho liner that will stay warm when damp and be durable and more to the point warmer than a the mil spec liners. I will edge the fabric in tape and put press studs in to make it compatable with studding in to the poncho and for removal for washing it etc. I also want to cut a head hole in it with a removable velcro in flap for when it is being used as a blanket.

(You can tell I've got a sewing machine to play with! :D )

I can easily buy (under £10) a heavy weight pile mattress topper which would do the job but these are in white...

Aye the same or similar to the stuff buffalo bags are lined with.
In the 70's and 80's everywhere there were fibre pile jackets (I think they started from safety wear on the rigs), but now this amazing material is reserved for specialist outdoor wear and is very hard to get a hold of these days.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I still have one of those old jackeys somewhere.

How about contacting these folks and asking about acquiring some of their fabric ? It's the same stuff I think and it comes in different colours.
Even if you have to buy a horse blanket's worth it might do.

Cheers for the links and advice folks, the stuff I'm after is the same pile fabric as inside buffalo shirts etc. It's extremely difficult to get a hold of. I've got a few ideas up my sleeeve for now though on where to look! Years ago I lived next to a place making the stuff and i could have bought rolls of it too

the sleeping bag covers are lined with the stuff, they always give them away free with sleeping bags so you might find one cheap on ebay or a carp fishing forum.

Its olive green fibre pile like inside my snugpak pile shirt

Good call Johnnytheboy,
I had no idea you could get sleeping bags in those dimensions - noted for a future purchase.

Cheers
