Actually it's a bit of a Telemark day for UKTV History (Freeview #12) on
Sunday as there is another documentary (if it's the one I have seen it's
good but is solely voiceover on film snippets) as well as the Kirk Douglas
film.

DOCUMENTARY: Secrets of World War II
(Series examining the history of World War II.)

'The Real Heroes of Telemark'
Covert history. This programme looks at the Norwegian
raids on the Norsk Hydro factory - in which the Germans
were creating materials for their first atomic bomb.

FILM: The Heroes of Telemark

Reluctant scientist Kirk Douglas and fiery resistance
fighter Richard Harris have to overcome their hatred
of each other, as well as the Germans, to sabotage an
atomic bomb project in this brawny war story set in
Norway in 1942. Director Anthony Mann avoids getting
bogged down with technical information
and sustains
a nail-biting tension throughout the daredevil mission.
While some in the supporting cast seem disaffected,
Anton Diffring convinces as a steely-eyed Nazi officer.
The night sequences are particularly striking, although
Robert Krasker's photography throughout will have you
positively pining for the fjords.

I caught yesterday's episode at 10pm by chance as I hadn't
realised the series was on again, on Freeview (channel 12).

There's not enough money in the world to persuade me to
parachute out of a Hercules! Saw one once at the Biggin
Hill air show and was utterly smitten.

It's on at 10am, 4pm and 10pm today with the same times
for part three tomorrow. Also tomorrow is Wild Food on
BBC2 at 8pm.

Search http://www.uktv.co.uk or http://www.radiotimes.com
for VideoPlus details.
