I just read a fiction book called Monster by Frank Peretti. There was a ton of tracking involved in it, the tracking was well researched and advised upon, for a fiction novel. I would consider it an enjoyable escape from reality. The tracking style was more formation and tracking sticks than the spoor telling you that it needed a pee or farted. The only mistake I saw on it was the tracker took point with the flankers behind him in an arrow. That would get your tracker killed. Flankers ahead in a Y shaped formation is much faster and safer.
