Things to do in Östersund?

Being of the very lucky persuasion, I'm off to Östersund in Sweden on Friday for a week's dog sledding

I'll have Friday afternoon, all of Saturday and Sunday morning to spare before heading off to the woods, and intend to hit the Woolpower factory outlet and to pick up a few other bits and pieces I've not got round to buying yet.

Does anyone have any tips for places to go, things to see, restaurants etc?

Cheers

You probably know but just in case, don't drink the lokal water as they have a parasite problem at the moment and that would ruin your trip!
Other then that, have a great trip!

That is something I would love to do.

The moose gardens (froson) are excellent I have heard.

Have a good time mate, and take lots of piccies

Jamtli (open air museum like Skansen in Stockholm) is nice, but this time of year there is no actors in the houses (midsummer to mid August they have actors in all the old houses). They have some nice exibits in the museum, though.
