Not every B&Q has a metals section anymore. The Hemel one does not, but those in Aylesbury, Watford and Northampton do. It used to be easier for me to go to a local model shop where I could get 1/8th inch brass rod, but since that shut it is actually more economical for me to mail order than drive to the nearest shop.
If your local hardware shop (if you have one) is a ToolBank stockist they should be able to order you silversteel rod in various diameters. And you can order the rods individually.
I can't believe you've bottled it with the loveless bolts mate , it really is simple as anything. You've got the bolts now, dont waste them. If your not going to use them, i'll take them off your hands (then i'll be paying P&P)

It should be noted that "silver steel" is not stainless. It is a carbon steel with a little chrome in it. It makes pretty good blades, but I would hesitate about it for handle pins simply because it can rust.
