I thought a Thermometer might be useful and may help me gauge at what temperatures my kit works well at. I could record the max and min night temperature for example and note how comfortable I was. It may help me not to over or under spec my gear.
it may also work during the day for testing jackets and gloves ect although it will not account for wind chill.
the temperature rating on gear is only a very loose guide because how cold you feel is very personal to you. My approach for buying kit in the past has been a little more random relying on other peoples reviews. Has anyone else tried this approach? If nothing else it may give bragging rights on how cold it was when you were out.
I guess a digital thermometer with max and min temp memory would be needed. Can you recommend one?
