"Each season begins in September and runs until Easter the following year.
The evenings commence at 6.30pm Monday evenings in the Jodrell Lecture
Theatre, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Lectures are preceded by short items of interest given by Kew staff and
students, and members of the public. The main lecture generally last forty
to forty-five minutes. Recent speakers have included Dan Pearson, Alan
Titchmarsh and Mike Nelhams, curator of Tresco Abbey Gardens.

Please note we are unable to take advance bookings for lectures, tickets
are sold on a first-come, first-served basis on the evening."

I've got my beadies on a couple, in particular the one on 30 October with Tony
Kirkham from the "Trees that made Britain". I expect nimbler tree fans will get
in the queue before me though...

Cheers for the heads up jodie. I'd suggest anyone in the area to go along to this, or go for a wander around kew gardens anyway. Its a fantastic resource with very knowlegable staff ... I hope I didn't bug them too much with my questions

Did you go to a specific event or just ask lots of questions when you were
there?

I do like Kew Gardens - a lot. Amazingly I haven't been there yet this year
which is pretty shameful. But I have been visiting local trees so not too bad :)

There are all sorts of interesting lectures and events going on all over the place
and www.lecturelist.org is a good place to find some of them (anyone can add
events of their own after registering, which is free).

I'm on the reserve list for the chat between David Attenborough and Jonathan
Dimbleby at the Natural History Museum at the end of October (just a few days
before Tony Kirkham's) but I doubt I'll be that lucky to get a ticket!

Both... though I've not been for a couple of years now, which is a shame, as you say its a fantastic place. I used to tag along on the trips organised by the local agricultural college which usually finished with a talk or lecture after a fascinating lead walk around the place. A great place for those in the city to brush upon their plantlore.

I've just added another post to this thread but it disappeared in transit...*

Possibly it will turn up again mysteriously but it basically said that I'd enjoyed
doing a course over ten years ago, on plant lore, at the Natural History Museum
led by a guy called Roy Vickery who was one of the botanists there. He wrote a
book called "Dictionary of plant lore" (in 1995!) which is on my 'to buy' list.

*and again... third time lucky hopefully.
