Spoon carving

Is it possible to carve a.spoon without a curved knife.like a crook knife?? If so how difficult/easy is it to.do???

Hi Vukic,
It is indeed possible, this is one in ash that I finished today, I just never got around to shelling out for a crook knife, preferring to use what comes to hand. The ash is from the woodpile, and the small chisel, is a Marples Gouge I use
for carving the bowl. All tools used are shown, plus a few scraps glass-paper.

Yep, I realize the pics of the chisel does not clearly show the shape, the cutting edge is "half moon" shaped,
and I just gouge the bowl out,probably takes longer than with a crook Knife, but works for me.

Nice ash spoon. I used to always rough out the bowl with a gouge. Recently, I've tried to just use the knife because I found that I wasn't really learning to use it properly.
