So I want to try a sheath.......

I have a nice piece of leather about a square foot (the knife is a puukko type) and a van and garage full of joinery tools......

What would I need to make a basic sheath?

I am thinking tools & materials to complete the task.

The very basics? An old fork, a craft knife, a tiny drill bit, a drill or dremel, some fishing nylon, a candle, a darning needle and a spoon.

To stop the edges fraying - melt wax into the edges - scrape off excess, then burnish with back of spoon.

Yep, that's pretty much how I started out except I did buy a cheap awl from a craft shop.

Yes, an you can also mark the line of stitching with it too, especially if you bend the outer tine a little.
