Snow Tracks !!

Just been out for a wander around in the snow and came across this unusual "imprint" in the snow

The direction of travel in the top pic is from bottom to top !!

The imprint just ends at what looks like a scuffle!!

Only possible indication is a single feather left at the scene!!!

Now we do have a large Buzzard population around here, and the only thing that springs to mind - Is this a "Strike & Capture" imprint ??? The lines cut into the snow, then all the surface snow is cleared, then a drag for about 1 1/2 feet, then another scuffle imprint then nothing

Looks like a raptor strike to me, with flight and tail feathers dragging in the snow and talons hitting prey.

I thought it was a dog digging at first. Really good find you don't come across sign of birds of prey often!

It was the "slices" cut into the snow that I first noticed, had to look a while to put everything together - I thought it was quite "neat" in a surreal sort of way
