Sleeping bag?

Hello folks,

I'm going to Dartmoor in August and I need a new sleeping bag to take with me. I would like a sleeping bag that would not be too hot in August but one that could keep me warm enough in spring and autumn. Does anybody have any recommendations, my budget would be about £70, is that enough?

Thank you,

Alex:)

This topic has been discussed many times and you can see some more options in the kit chatter section :).
I'd recommend for a 3 season bag on your budget a Snugpak Softie 6 . Well made, not too heavy and a UK company.

Great link kit!!!

Is it any good for the 'fuller' gentleman?

Lol

I got a an Expanda panel for my softie 9, adds 50cm across the chest and makes it into a more of a center zip type bag (but no quite). Very comfy and loads of room :).

The expanda's only fit UK made Snugpak bags though....

Happy days!!

So if you take into consideration the extra out lay or an expands panel would it make more sense to just buy the elite series? They have a built in panel already.

Iv had the elite 4 to play with and it was amazing bag, but too warm fr anything other than the depths of winter.

I really could do with a bag rated to zero myself, for everything else I have a nice down quilt rated to mini 18!!

Anybody ever used any military surplus sleeping bag.

Sorry to hijack your thread pal lol!!

The military bags are very popular indeed!!

A lot of guys like the arctic bag very much, but from what I no it's very very heavy!!

They do have a centre zip though which could be handy especially if your in a hammock!!

I may no someone who is selling one too!! (It's not me by the way)

You have not said of your walking or car camping mate?

I would seriously look at the snug pak elite series mate!!

The elite 3 is a good all round 3 season bag and weighs I think 1600 grams.

That's going to be my next bag I buy!!

I use a Snugpak Elite 3 (mainly because I trawled the forums on this esteemed site and it was constantly mentioned in high regard). What I like about it: it doesn't weigh too much. It is very roomy (comes with expander panel). It is very robust (used by military types as bag of choice) and it's warm down to below zero. And it doesn't cost too much. It's a good all-round bag you can trust.

Just seen the snugpak sleeper zero= 1800g, comfort=0, extreme=-7

And the snugpak sleeper extreme=2100g, comfort=-7, extreme=-12

A little compromise on weight but I will save at-least £20, which can go on a new stove:).
