THIS HAS NOW BEEN REHOMED.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement.

Hi all,

My folks have this beautiful old Singer 29K Cobblers Patcher machine in their shed.

Would love this to go to a good home to be used again instead of being sold for scrap, so offering it out to one of the best communities in the world - you guys.

A restoration project. I don't beleive this is in working order. Needs a clean, oil, paint etc.

Free to someone who will come and pick it up. Heavy item, cannot assist with loading sadly. Head is not fixed to the base and comes apart as two seperat entities.

Item is in Southampton, SO19, UK.

Message me for more info.

Is there any rush to move this on? I occasionally go through Winchester but not due to go there for several weeks. Do you know if it comes apart at all, i.e. can the machine come off the base to help loading into a car?

On the one I looked at some time ago, the top section (the main machine) is bolted onto the table from underneath - whether you can get the bolts undone or not is another matter :)

Broch’s right, the machine and treadle table are separates, they didn’t all come with the treadle section. A good drop of some oil / WD40 or such like would do it. Separated they should be easy enough to load on your own, connected will be a bit of a swine but someone strong should manage, don’t ask how I know  :D

A lovely and generous offer, hope it goes to a good home.

Hi all, thanks for the support in getting this to a good home, rather than a scrap metal merchant.

The head is not fixed to the base, so easier for transit.

Hi thanks for your reply. My folks would like it shifted asap to be honest, but if it is still around when you're coming through, by all means.

Quite understandable. Even if they could keep it for a while wouldn't expect them to hold on to it if someone else could collect it sooner. I'll keep an eye. On the thread nearer the time.

It wouldn't be housed in its own though, it would join a couple of other treadle singer sewing machines and several more hand kranked ones.
