One of my friends (the sort who is as bad as me) has just bought up the stock of a guy who imported shells.
Im wondering of the uses for the things. Small ones are used as decoration.
I asked him about cowries...he does not know what a cowrie is like so cannot tell me.
I know he has some tiny tusk shells (about half an inch long.)
A lot of his ones he showed me are like this;
He also has some of those..."What are they?"
I told him they were sea beans, that they came from a Carribean tree that drops its seeds into the Gulf stream in order for them to be washed up on British beaches.
(What evolutionary function this may serve, I do not know)
They are all in need of a good clean.
So, is there anything I should be pestering him for? (Maybe he has enough cowries to buy neat stuff from societies which use them as currency?)
