Came home from work and had to head right out to the wood pile. A winter storm was moving in, and we needed wood cut and split for the wood stove. Got a pile of that all ready and then grabbed the last minutes of daylight to rough out a spoon from a piece of maple, using my elbow adze. The billet had a nice curve to it, which I followed. Hopefully it will make a proper serving spoon.

Here's another one I've been working on, also out of maple.

Good form for the proposed service. Isn't it a relief to find a piece of wood fit to carve?
Besides an elbow adze, I've got just about as much use from the D-adze that I built up from a Kestrel Tools blade.
The striking accuracy seems far easier for me to control.
