Now that is one of the first re-wilding plans that I think sounds sensible. No talk of introducing long departed large mammals, just cut grazing, cull overly high deer numbers, plant trees, work with local communities, all from people who have the resources to do it without significant government hand outs. And they don't expect it will be quick.

What a grand experiment is rewilding. I hope there's intense observation to follow the progress.
It's got to be done at wholesale landscape level as they wish.

Good luck with the deer cull. I don't think you can put enough gunners in the field.
My $10.00 says you won't ever whack enough of the deer to be significant.
Particularly if the new native plantings are premium forage.
There are deer repellants (Plantskyyd for example) that will diversify the attack.
