What should I use to remove the wooden handle from a stick tang knife?? I'm in need of a new project so I'm going to have a bash at a new handle and sheath.

Is there a bolster of any sort?
If not, put a knife (not a precious one) against the side of the other and baton straight down one side to split it off.
If there is a bolster then a bit more work. Vice, old sacrificial chisel and just smash the thing to bits. But be careful. Not pretty

Argh it does have a bolster! But thanks for the advice though I'll crack on with it soon!

Wrap blade in poop loads of masking tape. Saves it from getting scratched and saves it form biting you
