Refurb help please, old BAK

I unearthed my grandfathers WWII issue knife the other day (blade, can-opener and marlin-spike) it's a bit corroded, stiff and the main blade is slightly bent. I would love to refurb it but a quick search only gives the idea of soaking it in vinegar but I'm not sure of how it would effect the handle, joints and rivets. Any advice most welcome, thanks

I've got one or those, date stamped 1945. I just cleaned it up with wire wool which did the trick. Oil, sharpen & polish metal and it looks fine. Will dig out a photo (if I can figure out my daughter's camera!) Good luck!
