Rattan material purchased in 2008 on a trip to Penang, Malaysia. Saw a local chap making furniture in a little workshop off the street and asked to buy some of his materials!
I was intending to use it for constructing a traditional style wooden parang sheath, such as the Penan parang that I had been given. However, I never got around to it and it has been sitting in a bag atop my spare room shelves ever since. I just soaked them and made a tighter coil, shortest piece 1.5m longest 3.25m, three at 2.25m. Soften up nicely.
