public right of ways

where do we find out public right of ways like maps on the net ?

im moving to a village soon and would like to have a look at walks i can go on

Check out the OS maps of your area - on line or on paper - or give the Highways dept of your council a call and try and speak to the Rights of Way officer (if they have one) and ask to see the definitive maps for your area.
I did this when researching for some of my books and found everyone very helpful.

In the woods if possible.
Ordnance Survey are a bit cagey about public rights of way, but they do consult the local authorities so if you get a reasonably up to date OS map you should be able to put your confidence in it. If I had an OS map showing that the track I was on was a public right of way I'd have no qualms about offering it as my excuse for being there to a local inhabitant. Unless he was a bull. :)

Some councils publish there definitive map online, if not copies are often available at various library's or the council offices.
