ps3 advice needed

My wee boys PS3 has gone on the blink,ie when you press the on button it should go from red to green ,but it only goes green for a second then goes back to red,any ideas people the pair of them are rattlin with withdrawal symptoms .

mine did that before xmas... i had to send it back to playstation to get it fixed. How old is it? if it is still within thw arrenty it'll be free to fix if not it'll take bout 2 weeks and £80
