pickling walnuts

got a big preserving jar from the car boot (yes, I did get some small ones with it...) and am looking for something to put in it.

theres a walnut tree here, when are the nuts best for pickling...or is it too late?

I think if you can leave them even longer Tengu they should ripen and dry a little, by the end of October they should be perfect.

Have you had a nibble on one yet ?

Nope, Im not fond of eating the nuts.

And if I have no pickled walnuts, how can I make Wowwow sauce??

I can remember picking them with my gran when I was little around my birthday in October, she used to put them in the airing cupboard to dry out for a couple of weeks before we could eat them.

I`m not sure about pickling though, I suppose they`re harvested when they`re still green ??
