That's not a very long lense. Did you just get lucky and they came out of the river right next to you?
Yes. I was actually at a nature reserve/ wilderness park in devon. Just sitting by the side of the river watching them playing in the water and then suddenly there they were. I was just lucky. I have a cheapish digital camera with a 10x optical zoom.
Lovely picture an a special moment. I still have vivid memories of coming across a pair of otters playing when we were up in Scotland - probably 20 years ago now. It was a wild, wet day, the river was in flood and they were virtually playing on the footpath - looking like they were having such fun!
