I have long used Ortlieb water bags, the one in pic is heavily used and over twenty years old. They are light, compact and extremely rugged. However the tap (shown in pics, on the left of new tap, black in colour) is not very user friendly, certainly not for small children!
My DIY modification is a home brewing tap, here fitted to an old Nalgene bottle lid (they have same thread, adding to versatility as any fittings are interchangeable, for example water purification systems). The tap fits with a perfect seal and is rotatable so will always point down! Also fully dismantable for cleaning. Obviously much more bulky, but this is a static base camp use item only. Will make one more for long camps like the moot...
