This is a nessie blade that i have made, its not been HT yet so the bevel isnt finished. (has a mm left to go)

What do you think to the shape? At the moment it is scandi grind as it is quite thin. I was thinking of maybe making it convex??

Ya, it's not the first time they call me like that ... :lmao:

Then again, I've never used a nessmuk, what is there usual usage ? I've seen it being used for some food prop. Other than that is it commonly used as a camp knife ?

Cheers,

A lot use one as a camp knife! good for those who do a lot of skinning and food prep. More of a kinda historical knife.

As for scales i was thinking of using something nice and dark, walnut or Thuya burl maybe.

Also it's going to have a bainite transformation!

Edit to say - actually I've been thinking about it - I bet ebony and silver would look pretty cool actually - kind of sleek and curvy and dark..

Okay - you were right

Well as with all things knifey it's personal taste, personally i wouldnt want one in ebony and silver but i can see how it looks nice. Ill be making more so more traditional woods will go on as well!

How about following the american theme with some nicely figured desert ironwood - best of both worlds.

Cheers
