This is the first time doing something of this nature. A full combo knife and pouch rig made specifically for the hike in, hike out fly fisherman.
I've never crafted a pouch with this much deep wet molding. Making the pouch was like tugging and stretching a piece of plastic ... not a lot of give even after letting it soak for 2 hours! Finally just gave up on the top stretch and decided to run a seam on the face!

Anyway, here are the stats:
Blade - Enzo O1 trapper 95mm, green micarta, 2 brass corby bolts and 4 internal brass pins, polished spine
Blade Sheath - 3.5mm natural color leather, stainless chicago screw rivets, green teflon coated 80lb. Spectra braid sinew (saddle stitched 4 times), sealed with [beeswax, mink oil, carnauba] warm soaked
Pouch - 3.5mm natural color leather, stainless chicago screw rivets, green teflon coated 80lb. Spectra braid sinew (saddle stitched 4 times), sealed with [neatsfoot, tallow, beeswax] warm soaked, dimensions inside [top: 16cm, bottom: 9.5cm, length: 18cm, depth: 9.5cm]

Before shipping this off, all of the hardware will be replaced with antique brass rivets such as those on the bottom tabs of the pouch. Am also working on a leather shoulder strap made out of hemp and leather that will be able to accomodate both the knife and pouch plus another small satchel. With input, it may also include a system for attaching a fly rod tube to the backside.

The nice thing about the design is that there is nothing to rub on the clothing side of the setup. all of the loops and tabs are sewn in towards the inside of the sheath as well as those of the pouch! and because all of the seams lie flat, skin abrasion is almost non-existant (yes, it gets really hot up here and sometimes we fish in the buff!).

Nothing super fancy.. just practical application and excellent materials.
please comment and question as this is the first of many to come and i'd like to incorporate some of the ideas of the tried and true outdoorsman here on BCUK!

Thanks for looking!:)

Silkstone, Blighty!
So is this attatched to a harness in some way, something like the holsters cops wear in movies? I'd be very interested to see how it goes together. The workmanship looks top notch though, so you can be proud of that!

Thanks sir!

The most common thing from people about carrying small pouches and knives etc. is "..if only there were another way to attach this..."... along with the adjustability issue ("it doesn't fit my 13 year girl right???")..

So, it can be worn on a belt; knife on one side and pouch on the other, or knife and pouch on the same side (for those with one leg shorter than the other :D ) ... and that goes without saying it can also be attached to a saddle, motorcycle handlebars, just about anyplace you can twist a length of rawhide lace!

But if the person is not wearing a belt, then it can attach to a sling/shoulder strap (working on that right now). The query arises as to hw it should carry.

i'm with the majority in being right handed (suppose a lefty sling version could be made just as easily) and have slung the pouch on the left side and have the knife attached to the front of the strap in the chest area. Does this seem natural? The knife could be slung down low with the pouch, but it seems like such a waste of space to have this empty strap space..

what are your thoughts?
