I can't take the credit for finding these, they were spotted by my hawk eye dad who brought me round what he called a strange mushroom. Of course, I went and picked quite a few more.
I think for every one I picked, I must have left at least 10.

Enjoy....

These morels, where do you find them?
Here in sweden they typically grow in the tracks or furrows after forestry site preparation but the pictures I have seen on this forum look like they grow in gardens.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Tonight was the first time we had ever eatem morels. We had sauteed morels with cream on toast, and blooming marvelous they were :)

I am going to dry some, but shall also probably make a side dish to go with tomorrows roast beef.

Husky, they were growing in wood chips. I believe that this is the most common place that they are now found in England.

Funny you should mention that. I spent a few years looking in local woodlands for them and then found my first one in my back garden, just in a rough patch of soil. I've since found quite a few in the garden and a few in local gardens, these have all been in reasonably fresh (i.e. about 6 month old) bark chippings. This is quite a common place to find them in the UK, gardens, car parks etc where bark chippings have been used.

Plenty of people also find them out and about in the woods, but I've still not managed that.
