More Polish Poncho

I have the kind of mind that explores byways and rabbit holes and as such all too easily hijacks threads.

So

I’ll post this in a new thread.

I find that the Polish poncho is a very effective poncho.
Once it moves away from that it is less so.
The lavvu is sort of OK if it isn’t tested too hard. I like the idea of extending the pole (somehow) and lifting it above some peg loops.
However as a solo camper I would need to carry two ponchos - well I’d rather have a tent - it’s lighter and more effective. The you-tube suggestion that the arm hole would take a chimney is laughable. It presumes that I have some sort of burner in there along with my 1.85 M (6’ 2”) carcass.

However I found this. And wondered if anyone has tried the less usual of these ideas.
Or
Are they worth trying?

Not really my way of going about things.

Interesting vid, not sure I'd want to try the hammock though.
I've had my Polish laavu for years, and I really enjoy using it. It does have it's limitations, but more often than not, it does the job it was designed to do. I rarely use the poles, prefering an internal or external bipod/tripod.

I’ve done exactly that with my previously centre pole tipi. Taking out the centre pole transforms the living space so I can sleep straightend out.

I got two pole sections with each of my poncho pair. Did some of you get more?
The pegs looked home made - possibly from a fence. Now replaced.

Mine has 3 poles with each. 52" total IIRC.

Interesting.
My size 1 poncho pair has two pole sections with each poncho. I couldn’t get a third section into the little bag without effort.
However - all four together do indeed make 52”.

Possibly interesting is that my two pole sets form a single complete pole. One pair has a base cap section but no top cap on the second, the other set has a top cap section but no base cap (There is a whisker of nylon thread where its keeper was. This half set had very sharp pegs cut from 12 gage wire, rusty and only crudely bent. I think this poncho had some hard use before i got it.

No, they're a pair of hiking poles.
