Make a carpenter's saw

Dear all,
last year I collected a larg piece of pine wood with beautiful grain and I would like slicing in order to make several chessboards and plates. unfortunately the diameter of the piece is about 40-50". I tried with a hand saw but with partial success. So I decided to build a large carpenter's saw in order to make the large part of the work. I'd like to make a saw like this, but I ask your advice for pictures or how to proceed

Thanks a lot to both. You got exactly the point. The task is the same of Tjurved. Just for the sake of discussion, the final result should be this (it's very similar to mine). If I've success I'll not miss the pictures
