I have been looking for a reliable source for English flint and was thinking that getting it direct from England would be less expensive.

Does anyone here know of a source that is willing to export to the US?

Thanks,
Darrel

I get mine at dixie gunworks they have a bag of 12 for 12.00 near that they are about 1 in. wide by about 2 in. long and some small ones 1 in sq.Good for flint & steel ok find them the order #fa0465 they are called flint chips &7.95 for 12 hopes this helps

I get chunks of flint from a chap in Brendon. England...

I do not know if he would be willing to send some to the States..Postage may be expensive

John :D

I'm off for a day out to Grimes Graves next week (Site of well known ancient flint pits) I'm hoping to collect myself a good measure of useable flint there. I'll be looking for fire making flint and for tool making flint. Where I live we are on limestone and good flints are very scarce.

If anyone wants me to gather them some up whilst I'm there, I'll send it on for the cost of the postage. Might be a bit pricey to send stones to the States though, but if you want some sent we'll talk.

Hello

If anyone wants some decent flint I have a contact from Brandon in Suffolk.

This chap owns some land that has flint in abundance which he sells .

I purchased some huge chunks as big as your fist for £10 including postage.

Well, the rtrip to Grimes Graves was a waste of time where flint gathering is concerned. The whole site is covered with a layer of topsoil these days, except for the actual flint mine which they guard jealously and charge for admission to. The only flint I saw were some huge nodules at the rear of the Rangers office, which I did not think it wise to try wandering off with! :)

So we went for a walk along the beach at Lowestoft and found no-end of the stuff. Brown flint, black flint thats like glass, and all sorts. All I need now is to know 2 things..
Which is the sort I need for napping, and how to do it! *LOL*

Arctic Hobo--Yes I am still interested.
Longstrider--The glass like stuff would be perfect for knapping.
I'm looking for flint thats good for both knapping and for the flint and steel kits I make, English flint is the best I have tryed for this so far. Helps make longer lasting and bigger sparks.
Heres some pics of what I do.
