Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
You can also employ a piece of bracket fungus to dry your flies ('dry' flies that is), The fungus is split to provide a chamos like square then mounted onto leather for protection.
The lanolin in the sheeps wool provides your flies with natural water repellent. I usually gather it from the barbed wire fences.
Why not just use woven woollen cloth ? Or sheared fleece ? (bit cut off from a sheepskin rug ?)
If it's just small pieces you need, I'm sure if you ask there's plenty of folks have spare bits around.
