I saw this in a charity shop and couldn't resist it, it fits on top of my Hobo type stove but was wondering if 18/8 stainless is very good on top of flames?

The steel should not be a problem, but the handle insert on that particular pot is made of a black plastic resin, which would be affected by direct heat from a flame. I have a teapot just like that at home, and after it has had tea in it for maybe half an hour the handle gets very hot, so if I were you I would make a wooden handle attachment to cover the handle. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that, I did think the insert was resin or plastic, will try and make a wooden cover for the handle when it stops raining, have some lovely pieces of Blackthorn in the shed.
