Laptop Battery

I have a wee net book and it conks out pretty quickly if I leave it for a while disconnected from the power supply, no we question is, how do I diagnose the fault with it?

I was was thinking it probably needs a new battery but wanted to check if anyone knew how to check this!

Some laptops have a diagnostic section in the BIOS and some of them will report on the batteries health.
How old is the battery?

It's the original battery about 4 years roughly!
