Well its come to that time of year again when the weather is nice and i can fire up my new gas forge.

I was recently asked to make a lapel dagger in a trade. After a couple of failed attempts a grinding one i decided to have a bash a forging one.

Im rather pleased with the outcome especialy as ive never tried a dagger before.

Forged from a piece of farriers rasp

Roughly 4inches long. 2 1/4 inch blade and 1 3/4 thumb piece. 1 inch wide

uk mainly in the Midlands though
Lapel daggers were used by SOE and other special forces during second world war as a emergency knife which could easily be hidden in clothing. Lapel daggers were often leaf shaped and sleeve daggers were a triangular cross sectioned longer blade.
