Laminated slingshots

Western Norway has seen a lot of rain this summer, but my workshop is dry. Since I'm kind of hooked on slingshooting as of late, this has dominated the DIY activities as well - here are some results from my experiments with different laminating techniques:

1) 18 mm plywood, burlap micarta and varnish

2) 18 mm plywood, ice cream sticks and varnish

3) 18 mm plywood, knitted cotton micarta and varnish

How does the ply hold up under tension? I've had a similar idea but only ever dared use hardwoods for my slingshots

Plywood is great. The dimension depends of what kind of rigging you want - check out Jörg Sprave at The Slingshot Channel, he uses a lot of plywood for his bad bottom experiments.

I'm familiar with his videos both informative and hilarious! Might just have a shot at making a plywood one. Really nice work you've done there mind you. I have some nice figured elm and cherry there too but it may be a little thin for slingshots. Perhaps knife handles.
