Hi Ogri

I have perused the stickies and related threads. They are useful but I am still struggling to get a better than ok edge. I would like to be able to confidently sharpen knives etc and find that I learn best by being shown and guided....

Go to your local butcher mate. Ask him if he has a quiet period in the week, were he can spend 20 minutes to show you. Offer to pay, even if he doesn't charge, take him a bottle. Then you can always go back.
Stick to trying just one grind, until you master it. The others will come easy. Go gentle as well.

how much are you willing to pay for a course that shows you how to get a "hair shaving " sharp edge every time ?

50 quid ?

buy yourself a Spyderco Sharpmaker ( google the name ) and watch / follow the instructional video :)........shaving sharp every time ! :)

We just did a sharps Skill Share at the last Suffolk meet :)... meets are some times the best place to learn because you see other peoples views/opinons... not just one.
