Talk: Bringing the food back home indigenous foodways, nutrition and biodiversity in western Canada
Distinguished Ethnobotanist Lecture for 2009, by Prof. Nancy Turner
Nancy Turner is one of the most influential (and charismatic) ethnobotanists working today. She is best known for her collaborations wth First Nations peoples of western Canada, and has published extensively on wild foods and nutrition, materials, and many other topics. This is a rare opportunity to hear her speak at a European venue.
Admission is free but must be prebooked using Eventbee:
http://www.eventbee.com//event?eventid=62117
Please don't sign up unless you can definitely come!
Venue: Jodrell Laboratory Lecture Theatre, Kew (Southwest London). Enter via Jodrell Gate Entrance, Kew Road TW9 3DS (halfway between Kew Bridge and Kew Gardens stations, 10 minutes walk from either). After the talk, audience members are welcome to join the speaker in "The Botanist" pub on Kew Green.
We've welcomed members of the Bushcraft Forum to earlier talks in this series - they'll know that the lecture is followed by a convivial evening at The Botanist, a good chance to meet a wide cross-section of plant-y people from London and the southeast.
Mark Nesbitt, Kew (m.nesbitt@kew.org)
P.S. Nancy will also be teaching at a course on medicinal plants at Schumaker College that week, details at:
